Meet Our Staff
James Lupton, DVM
Dr. Lupton grew up in Wilson and first started working at Wilson Veterinary Hospital in 2004, after high school. He graduated from NC State University with a degree in Animal Science, then attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2014, he joined the veterinary team at Wilson Vet, later becoming part owner in 2021. Dr. Lupton enjoys every aspect of veterinary medicine that strengthens the human–animal bond, but especially the puppies. James and his wife, Kristin, have a son (Bradley) and a daughter (Natalie). They also have two dogs, Scarlett and Gray (Go Bucks!),as well as two cats, Cheddar and Digit. In his free time, he enjoys running, woodworking, and occasionally playing video games.
Meghan Courey, DVM
Dr. Courey spent the early years of her life in Ohio, before moving to South Carolina. She graduated from Clemson University in 2018 and then went to the Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation in 2022, she packed up her bags and returned to the Carolinas to join the team at Wilson Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Courey has a keen interest in clinical pathology, internal medicine, surgery, and calico cats. Meghan spends her time outside of work with her partner in crime, Peter. They have two dogs, Booty and Mango, and three cats, Quinn, Fish, and Eleanor. When she isn’t working, you can find Meghan cooking, running, paddle boarding, crafting, or spending quality time with her family.
Maria Glennon, DVM
Dr. Glennon was born in Washington, DC but grew up in Raleigh, NC. She completed her undergraduate degree at NC State University in 1990 and graduated from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. Dr. Glennon joined Wilson Veterinary Hospital in January of 1996 when it was still a mixed animal practice. She has been happily practicing small animal medicine since 2000. In January 2022, Dr. Glennon decided to pursue her interest in ultrasonography at Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital, although she still practices at Wilson Vet one day a week. Maria and her husband, John, have 3 sons and 3 cats. When she is not working, Dr. Glennon enjoys choral singing, watching horse racing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Carrie Raymond, DVM
Dr. Raymond was born and raised in Wilmington, DE. She attended the College of William and Mary on a basketball scholarship and then continued her journey south to attend the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated in 2003 and has been with Wilson Veterinary Hospital ever since. Her interests include internal medicine, behavior, and dermatology. Carrie and her husband, John, got married in 2000. They have 2 children, a son, Brandon, and a daughter, Hailey. They also have a dog, Copper, and a cat, Shadow. When not at work, Dr. Raymond enjoys reading, spending time outdoors with her family, and doing escape rooms.
Renae Wohlers, DVM
Dr. Wohlers grew up in Minnesota. She attended undergraduate school at NC State University and graduated from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She joined the team at Wilson Veterinary Hospital after graduation and has been here ever since. Her areas of interest include ultrasonography, dermatology, animal behavior, and cardiology. Dr. Wohlers feels fortunate to indulge in her love of animals with her chosen profession. Renae met her husband, Derek, while serving as a Captain in the US Army. They share their home with their Newfie–doodle, Freya, and their 3 rescue cats, Allie Cat, Pixie, and Viking. Her hobbies include singing, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends.
